San Diego Family Adventure: Day 3

So our first day at the beach didn't exactly start out well.  It was windy beyond reason which caused an awful raucous when Wes tried to set up the tent.  This, combined with the waves, blowing sand and lack of naps resulted in a little bit of this:

Wes has more patience than I have.  I was ready to give up and go back inside and he insisted we wait it out.  Good call.  Once Liam realized that the beach was just one giant sandbox, things turned around.

View of the Navy Lodge from the beach...

My parents showed up not long after we arrived and gave us reprieve for an ocean date.  I think this helped Liam warm up to the whole ocean wave idea.

Baby steps...we started with sand castles.

And this guy got to dip his feet in the ocean for the very first time!  Just one of many firsts on this trip...

He liked it!  Compare this to Liam's first ocean experience in 2010...vast contrast.

He got closer and closer to the water until finally he realized that the beach can be FUN.  Foot races with Dadda!  Finding shells!  Footprints in the sand!  Running from waves!  The possibilities are endless.

Those frowns turned upside down and it only took an hour or two.  Glad we waited it out!  Liam is officially a Water Baby.

So you took 2,000 pictures as usual, but tell me you went through and picked the ones where I looked chunky?! Those were good times, except for the first 15 minutes of Liam screaming as if we were about to throw him to the sharks.
