Labor Day 2014 Hike

I suppose we have a little tradition of spending Labor Day with the Jacksons.  (Any tradition with the Jacksons is a win in my book.)  Post-Running-of-the-Balls, Molly and Vic led us on a gorgeous fall hike starting near the Silver Star Cafe with sweeping views of PC and and the PCMR mountainside.

We thought Aiden's Huckleberry Finn hat was a goner, but thanks to Vic's keen observational skills, it's still with us.

BFFs since birth.

Sloppy seconds...

I mean, where do we live?!  "I know I am honored to be witness of so much majesty..."

Strategic hand placement.

Running of the Balls

Pamplona has Running of the Bulls.  Park City has Running of the Balls.  I have lived here nine years and never once heard a word about this hilarious community tradition which takes place every Labor Day/ Miner's Day on Main Street at 10:45am.  The way it works:  you "adopt" a golf ball which goes to support various charity projects.  Then, the balls are released down Main Street and tracked.  The first ball to reach the finish line will win its owner a valuable prize, such as airline tickets or a season ski pass, with many other runners-up prizes.  We didn't win anything this past year, but we'll be back in 2015.

Waiting with great anticipation...

Vic helping clean up, because that's just the kind of guy he is.

Hanging with our friend, Wade Carpenter, the Park City Chief of Police.

Slightly over-exposed, but proof we were there...
