It Brings the Boys to the Yard

I think my boys will look back at their childhoods as a magical time full of hiking adventures in the summers and backyard sledding in the winters.  We have a great hill in the back with multiple options for sledding paths.  Wes hopes to make a luge run one day when we remove all of the rocks from the area.  I love these days!

Liam is big enough to do most of his own climbing, pulling, (snow eating) and sledding.  Praise the heavens!

It took a little while for Aiden to "warm up" to the idea, if you will.

There's that smile we know and love!  Brave boy.

We're mountain people.

Christmas Day with the Charles Family

Christmas celebrations continued at Canyon Trails after Christmas afternoon naps where we enjoyed the rare company of Kevin & Kimberly's family.  We love having them back in Park City where they belong.  It just feels right.  (Although I have to say being in California feels pretty right as well.)

Lots of hugging ensued.  This family is big on physical affection...

Everyone was SO generous with gifts this year.  Thank you to everyone for all of the thought and love put into them.  We are blessed to have you in our lives.

Nice teeth, Maddie!  How do you still look so handsome with parts of your mouth missing?!

After several years, Papa John finally finished his life anthology, "I Did it My Way," and presented the 700+ page epic to each family.  What a gift!  That was a LOT of work and we all appreciated his efforts.  We all know that I am obsessed with family history, and I would really love it if everyone would do this.  Come on, people!  Get working before memories start getting a little foggy.

Christmas dinner did not disappoint, as usual.

Wes struggles with looking like a normal person in photo ops.  I don't know why; he's such a handsome guy…it's like a waste of a pretty face when he snarls and grimaces.  I guess we'll have to practice more.  This is the best we could do.

We concluded the evening with a short program depicting Christmas in the Americas and the story of Samuel the Lamanite, complete with a tower wall and rolled socks hurled in Jesse's direction.  Classic.  Merry Christmas, everyone!
