San Diego Family Adventure: Day 1

Despite what some may say, traveling with two small children is possible.  We did it, and we survived. It helps having two perfect children (except when they're not).  As for Aiden's first flight, it was a total success.  And Liam felt like a grownup in his very own seat!  San Diego, here we come...

What kind of parents make their children carry their own toys?  Awesome ones, that's who.  Okay, so Wes and I ended up carrying that backpack 99% of the time, but it's never too early to (try to) teach personal responsibility.

Upon arrival, and after a little (2 hour) rental car mishap where my dear husband forgot that his Driver's License had expired (we're not sure how he even boarded the plane)...we ate at Anthony's with my parents.  Aiden enjoyed his first glimpse of the Pacific...and seagulls.

Every now and then, Liam asks me "Mamma, remember when we saw the pirate ship called the Star of India when we went to California?"  The boy has the memory of an elephant.  He probably gets it from me, because I remember that ship from when I was just a tot.  Ah, the circle of life.

We arrived at the Navel Air Station at Coronado just before dusk.  Liam expressed his approval when he discovered a playground steps away from our room.  It's like we planned it!

Wes worked remotely for an hour or two each "vacation" day.  That's my hard worker!  Notice our nice digs for the week, on a military base, no less.  And about $500 less per night than had we stayed off base.  Second floor ocean views.  Amazing.

If you can't afford to stay at the Hotel Del, you might as well have a great view of it.

LOTS more to come...

Ahhhhhh Coronado. No place like it in the good ole US of A. Has changed some since the early 50's, but many more things have remained the same.
Your pictures bring back a flood of memories.

Didn't forget, didn't even know it had expired!
