Red, White and Blue Ringpops

Although we didn't make it to the 4th of July crack-of-dawn breakfast this year at City Park, we still packed the day with some of the traditional festivities...A little parade watching and fun at the Annual 4th of July Carlson Extravaganza!  Yup, still my favorite holiday.

And of course, the ATV scavenger hunt for the kiddos.  Liam didn't cry this year.  He's all grow'd up.

Aiden compared notes with a new friend, Emery Carlson, born just one month before him.  They had lots to discuss.

Liam's favorite part of the day?  The snake.  This kid is obsessed with lots of extras ssss's, so imagine his excitement when one of the cousins showed up with a REAL one.  Intense.

4th of July just isn't complete without a blue ringpop, is it?  Quite festive.

One of Aunt Mary's hens hatched a duckling!  This was a pretty amazing story, and I was able to capture a shot of them together that I think needs to be on the Ellen DeGeneres show, or at least in the local newspaper.  Mamma hen is VERY protective of her baby duck.  The other chickens clearly disapprove of the adoption but this, my friends, is love at first quack.

And this is also love.

Someone enjoyed her dessert...

It was a wee-bit tough to get Liam out of the tree-swing.  This place is a kid's wonderland, I tell you.

On the way home, we watched Utah on fire and were grateful for all of the firefighters working so hard to keep everyone safe.  What a daunting task.

God bless America!
