Let's Play Music Recital

Liam enjoyed his first year in music classes and is showing promise as a young musician.  The Let's Play Music program is fantastic; they teach music theory to preschoolers through play.  He has learned staff relationships, intervals, rhythmic notation, and chord inversions and has no idea that he has learned it!  For example, they learn rhythmic notation by looking at notes with various values dressed up as corresponding bugs with the same syllables as each note value.  e.g. "Butt-er-fly" would be two sixteenth notes and an eighth.  "Slug" is a half note.  "Ca-ter-pil-lar" would be four sixteenth notes.  Genius!

Liam is adept at the tone bells and can sing and play (simultaneously) several songs including Three Blind Mice, Goodbye Old Paint, Dinosaur and Do Re Mi (from The Sound of Music.)

The performance aspect is a challenge at times...

I can't wait for Aiden to start this program one day!

Liam's big solo involved holding up the corresponding chord triangle while the group sang the song.  He did it perfectly!

It was great for Liam to see the big kids perform their piano pieces.  It's important for him to see the progression that is possible if he practices.

Liam with his adorable teacher and my good friend, "Miss Chrissy" Coonradt.

Grammy got Liam these awesome rock-star glasses for doing such a great job.

A special thanks to MoMo and Grandpa for funding Liam's early music education!  The money is being put to great use.
