The BIG 1!

First things first.  Is this not the cutest birthday card you have EVER seen?

It really was a BIG one...big party, I mean.  And Aiden won't remember one minute of it (which is why I meticulously document EVERY little thing!)  His cuteness is out of this world, his personality bigger than the mountains in our front yard, his sweetness more delectable than the Texas Chocolate Cake I baked him, his creamy skin more savory than Corned Beef and Cabbage.  And so for his first birthday party, I decided it was go BIG or go home!  We rolled St. Patrick's Day, Easter and Aiden's big day into one celebration, so needless to say, it was QUITE festive.

So many friends and family members attended.  Ask any Mama, and she will tell you that hosting a party is a TON of work, but the good company really is the icing on the cake.

The Wiltons represented the Charles side, as MuMu and Grandpa were traveling the globe almost the entire month of March.  We know you were there in spirit!

Blond, blue eyes.  Brunette, hazel eyes.  I promise he is my child!

As with Liam's first birthday, we once again stole a Korean Doljanchi (Child's 1st Bday Celebration) fortune telling tradition and adapted it a bit; one of the highlights of the party.  Aiden was placed in front of a table with various items and whichever item he picked up first would determine his future.  If he picked up the rice, he would never hunger, the coins meant he would be wealthy, the string meant long life, the pen and paper, intelligence, and a cell-phone compass app meant he would have good direction in his life (we made that one up).  He picked up the rice first, followed by the coins and string.  Not bad!

Remember when Liam used to break out crying anytime someone sang Happy Birthday?  Yeah, Aiden feels a little differently about the whole thing.  He was into it. He waited patiently while everyone sang, stayed calm and then thoroughly enjoyed his cake!  And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to post one hundred pictures of Aiden eating cake...because I can.  If you find that excessive and obnoxious, I don't care.

And now onto presents!  I wonder who got him this first one...Clearly, it was my favorite.

Thank you, Wiltons!  This thing already has a few hundred miles on it.

Best walker ever: the Pewi Ybike.  It goes in all directions, it's easy to turn and he can ride on it when he gets bigger.  We went in with Grammy and Papa on this gem.

Dominic's official birthday was the week prior on March 10.  Happy Birthday, buddy!

LOVE this picture of Charly.  She added a touch of sugar and spice to the shindig.

Chunky crayons and a soft book from Bret's family.  Yay!

I love my little toddler (is he really not considered a baby anymore?) to pieces.  I hope he enjoyed his bash, because he won't see another like that for another ten years.  Okay, maybe five.  Happy 1st Birthday, sweet boy of mine!
