Firstborn

We called you Peanut and Pumpkin and Tinker
And often referred to you as our Little Stinker
We named you Liam, meaning “ardent protector”
In hopes that one day you might be a big brother

We knew you were special when the light in your eyes
Met Mamma’s gaze for the very first time
With golden eyes and locks of wheat
No being on earth could be quite as sweet

Now it is time to add one more to our kin
A fiery little boy we'll soon call Aiden
Will you feel replaced, pushed aside and forgotten?
Never, oh never, our dear little one

No need to worry; no need to fret!
“You’ll love both the same,” so says Uncle Bret
So may you always remember despite sibling wars,
We love you more than the moon and the stars!

Yes.. if anyone looks at those pics and still doesn't think Liam is the cutest boy in the world, ask him to smile for you.
